IS FEELING WEIRD AFTER HYPNOSIS NORMAL?

It's perfectly normal to feel a little strange after hypnosis for some individuals, but generally, it is nothing to worry about. Some people report feeling a little disorientated or spaced out after a hypnosis session. Post-hypnosis, sensations of disorientation or unfamiliarity may occur briefly, gradually dissipating as awareness returns to normal conscious states. This is not unexpected as hypnosis is a powerful tool that produces a wide range of both physical and emotional responses.

For most people, these feelings pass rapidly and the individual should feel alert and clear-headed again within a few minutes or hours. It is not uncommon for some people to experience mild physical symptoms, such as a headache or dizziness, but the symptoms are typically short-lived, and will not have any lasting effects.

Post-hypnosis, it is not uncommon for individuals to report a state of enhanced relaxation and suggestibility, attributable to alterations in neural connectivity and cortical activity. Neuroimaging studies suggest there are modulations in brain regions related to attention, suggesting a heightened focus, coupled with reduced inhibitions. This altered mental state often fosters a sense of calmness and receptivity, contributing to subjective feelings of mental clarity and receptiveness to therapeutic suggestions.

IS FEELING WEIRD AFTER HYPNOSIS NORMAL?

It should be noted that feeling ‘weird’ or disorientated after hypnosis is no indication of something having gone wrong at all. In fact, the majority of people report a feeling of deep relaxation after a hypnosis session, claiming they feel refreshed, even if they do experience some temporary physical or emotional effects.

Should you be at all concerned about any symptoms you experience after a hypnosis session it is always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider or a qualified hypnotherapist. Guidance and support can be provided in order to help you understand and manage any physical or emotional effects of hypnosis.
